Sydney Hastings-Wilkins, originally from Montgomery County, Maryland, is currently an MPH candidate with a concentration in maternal, child, & family health at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in Community and Global Public Health and a minor in Gender & Health. Sydney has conducted research on the power dynamics of birth settings and the influence of environmental and social exposures on preterm birth. Sydney studied abroad in Vietnam, South Africa, and Argentina in a comparative public health program centered around ethnographic research and experiential learning.
Outside of academics, Sydney is a birth doula and passionate about women's sports. She has done photography for the past eight years, capturing everything from Michigan sports games to protests to births. Sydney has a deep appreciation for travel and meeting new people, and is eager to work with students using the same strategies she learned as a No Anxiety Prep student when she was studying for the SAT/ACT!
